A4e

While A4e has cemented its position as Europe's largest provider of welfare to work programmes with major new contracts for Flexible New Deal in the UK, the company is developing its capacity as a skills training provider both home and abroad. It has naturally taken a keen interest in the consultation by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills on simplifying the publicly funded system and its UK strategy director Jon Trigg has taken part in an online UKCES seminar with employers, government agencies and other providers. A4e continues to contribute to the international debate on ways of making public service delivery more effective and efficient as governments around the world are forced to tighten their belts. rgmr advises A4e on its public affairs.

Association of Learning Providers

The Association of Learning Providers (ALP) has told minsters that it wants all pupils in secondary schools to be informed about apprenticeships as a post-GCSE choice under legislation which is currently going through Parliament. Its views are shared by MPs and peers of all parties, including two former secretaries of state for education. Much of the association's energies in 2009 have been devoted to helping the government address funding issues in response to strong employer demand for the Train to Gain and adult apprenticeship programmes. These have been reported extensively in the sector and national media. rgmr handles ALP's media relations and advises it on its lobbying activities. The association receives regular coverage in the education and training sector press.
